“Pathaan” banked on the Republic Day holiday and it paid off with cash registers ringing strong at the box office. The film added Rs 70 crore nett to its total on day two, in Hindi language. The growth of “Pathaan” has been historic and the enthusiasm for the film is reflected in huge attendance in theaters. The two-day activity total of ‘Pathaan’ now stands at Rs 125 crore nett, boxofficeindia reports. The film tied the score of the dubbed versions of ‘KGF 2’ and ‘Bahubali – The Conclusion’ in two days. In the south, ‘Pathaan’ earned Rs 1.22 crore net from the Kerala circuit while the Nizam/Andhra and Mysore markets also contributed positively to the total.
Prior to its release, “Pathaan” sparked huge controversy over his song “Besharam Rang,” with several people protesting Deepika’s saffron bikini. Praising the actress for her quick dance moves in the song, SRK said, «You need someone of Deepika’s stature to be able to do a song sequence like Besharam Rang and then you know, to be able to do some the action, where she takes a guy and pulls him over herself and beats him up, she’s strong enough to do that too. That kind of combination could only have been achieved with someone like Deepika. is quite a complex character for an action movie heroine, so to speak.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, «Pathaan» features John Abraham as the antagonist, with Deepika and SRK teaming up as spy agents. Salman Khan’s cameo in the film as Tiger is also receiving massive praise from fans.
