Peloton’s Leanne Hainsby has been quietly battling breast cancer since August, she announced on social media on Friday.
Hainsby spoke at length about the treatments she received after a doctor first dismissed the lump she discovered, sharing that she underwent 12 weeks of chemotherapy and will start radiation therapy.
«I was teaching my Wednesday morning LIVE classes, then meeting my mom and going to the treatment suite for my weekly dose (alongside other medications as part of my treatment plan),» he said. -she writes.
«Chemo is no joke. Cold caps are no joke.
The British fitness sensation also revealed that she had undergone surgery and her portacath (a device fitted inside the body to deliver treatment) would then be removed.
«Treatment will continue for a long time for me, hospital visits are the norm and I’m focusing on one step at a time,» she wrote. “I feel very lucky to have my treatment in private. The nurses and doctors are amazing, and I wouldn’t be here without them.
Hainsby, 35, also shared that she and her fiancé, fellow Peloton instructor Ben Alldis, had the opportunity to complete a round of IVF before starting his chemo.
«We weren’t mentally prepared, but we made it and we’re so grateful,» she wrote.
Hainsby, who shared photos of herself wearing the aforementioned cold beanies, hopes that by sharing her diagnosis, she can raise awareness and encourage others to always seek a second opinion.
“I’m almost six months away. I’m in fantastic hands and I have this,» she shared. «Nobody wants to sit in a room and be told they have cancer, and yet I’ve always felt like the one of the lucky ones. I’m one of the lucky ones.»
The beloved spin instructor concluded her post by assuring fans that she «WILL BE OK», saying she is more «empowered» than ever.
«You gain a strength you didn’t know you had and you keep moving forward,» she wrote. «Strong, as healthy as possible and self-sufficient.»
Alldis also shared photos of Hainsby throughout his treatment journey and gushed about his strength and bravery.
«So incredibly proud of you @leannehainsby 💙,» he began his post. «You have been an absolute inspiration to all of us and have walked every step of this journey so far in your stride, with such grace and with your head held high.»
He continued, “Here are, as you would say, bright days ahead and living our healthiest, happiest lives using the countless lessons this past year has taught us.
