76ers’ Joel Embiid fined $25,000 for D-Generation X celebration

Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid shells out $25,000 for a steamy celebration in the Sixers’ 137-133 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday.

After converting a bucket and a one, Embiid turned to the crowd and stepped back in time to get the fans excited.

He released former Triple H/Shaun Michaels celebration of their D-Generation X days.

The NBA fined him for «making an obscene gesture on the playing field».

Kevin Durant, who was inactive on Wednesday, tweeted that it was a «garbage celebration».

Embiid laughed it off.

This is Embiid’s fourth fine of the season. The previous three had each cost $2,000 for technical fouls, including one in Wednesday’s game.

This is Embiid’s second fine apart from technical foul payments since the 2020-21 season. He was fined $35,000 that year for fighting in the field.

Philadelphia won the game in heated moments. Embiid and Nets guard Ben Simmons exchanged looks and words all night, and the officials issued six technical fouls.

Embiid was down 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the victory. He is averaging 33.4 points and 9.8 rebounds per game.
